Arsenal midfielder Jorginho admitted that the opportunity to play in Brazil would be an ‘incredible experience’ as speculation mounts surrounding his future at the club.

Jorginho extended his previous deal by a further 12 months last summer, but the midfielder's current contract is due to expire at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old has been a valued senior member of Mikel Arteta’s squad since arriving from Chelsea in 2023 but has often failed to get regular minutes in the starting lineup.

The Italian international has made just six Premier League starts so far this season, although he did play the full 90 minutes in midweek as Arsenal cruised to a 3-0 Champions League win against Dinamo Zagreb.

Reports earlier in the week have linked Jorginho with a move to Brazil, the country of his birth, with Flamengo said to have offered the midfielder a three-year deal worth in the region of €10million (£8.5m).

And while appearing to hint that his current focus remains with Arsenal during this transfer window, Jorginho did admit that he would be keen to ply his trade in Brazil in the future

‘My contract is until June and my goal now is to think about the next game, which is in three days. There's not much to think about, you know?’ Jorginho told TNT Sport when asked about rumours surrounding his exit.

‘Things happen very quickly in football, things can happen overnight, but my mind is on the next game.

‘Football is a box of surprises, as we all know, but my goal is to think about the next game. I don't even look, because it always happens. Every window that opens is always crazy, with a lot of information, a lot of things, a lot of talk.

‘But if you stop to think about all the talk you always have, then you end up wasting a lot of energy and it ends up affecting your work where you are. So my goal, as I said before, is to focus on where I am, which is here today, so that's it.’

But asked if a move to Brazil could be on the cards in the future, Jorginho replied: ‘It's a possibility, yes, in the future, it's a possibility.

‘As I’ve already mentioned, I have never played professionally in Brazil so it would be an incredible experience for me.

‘So this door is also open, obviously. Keep all the doors open and calmly decide what to do in the future.’

Arsenal are back in action on Saturday as they visit Wolves and look to keep pace with Liverpool at the top of the league table
