Based on the success of “Welcome to the Goonerverse” – the first Arsenal anthology, released a few weeks ago by Gunners Town boss Dave Seager (and friends), Gunners Town has decided to create a virtual Goonerverse, and is encouraging our readers to contribute to a growing collection of Gooner poetry.
Consider it a portal into the poetic minds of regular, everyday Gooners like you and me! A place where there is no judgment – no good or bad – a place where you can let your inner poet off its leash for a while… Share in a poem what it means to support The Arsenal with your fellow fans. Anyone can do it!
Just submit your poem, along with a short bio, and where in the world you support The Gunners from, (and hey! why not a photo of the poet, too?!) by sending an email to<goonerverse AT gunnerstown DOT com>, and we will publish your poem right here on Gunners Town. In a year or so, we might publish a follow up anthology, and – with your permission, of course – your poem could be included!
The original “Welcome to the Goonerverse” book contains submissions by Gooners from all walks of life – very few of whom are professional poets. What unites them all is their passion for the Club, and that they had the courage and inspiration to put that passion into words, which other Gooners can now enjoy and share. From memorable experiences, to superstitions and rituals, personal connections to the club and other supporters – no topic was too big or small for our aspiring poets – and we encourage you to put pen to paper and send us your efforts.
