The under-18s went down to a 1-0 defeat last Saturday, a result that has seen them move within two points of us in the league with a game in hand.

It's just our third league defeat of the season in the U18 Professional Development League although two have come in the last three games against the other two teams in the top three and it has cost us the leadership of the league.

Sheffield United remain top; they were without a game last week which keeps them one point ahead of us although they now have two games in hand. Sheffield Wednesday would have been within a point of us but they were beaten at home by Wigan and there were also wins for Coventry and Peterborough who beat Fleetwood and Birmingham respectively.

That's a seventh defeat of the season for Fleetwood who have played eight games, less than any other team in the north group, but they are nine points adrift of the next two Barnsley and Coventry.

There are two big strugglers in the south too. Colchester are bottom with three points from ten games; QPR have two more points but have played a game more. QPR have taken some hammerings this season and they were shipping goals a plenty again last Saturday, losing 6-2 at home against Bournemouth.

But a four goal defeat was nothing compared to Ipswich and Swansea. Both were beaten 5-0 at home, Ipswich by south group leaders Bristol City and Swansea by Watford. It was very much the week for the top teams; the other two winners were Cardiff and Millwall, the other two teams who kicked off in the top half of the league.

There are eight games this week, three in the north and five in the south. We have a blank week and will resume our league campaign a week on Saturday when Coventry are at Gawthorpe.
