Chelsea hope injury doubt Cole Palmer is fit to end Vitor Pereira's Wolves honeymoon
Today at 08:21 AM
Wolves' honeymoon period under new manager Vitor Pereira has been more a trip to Butlin’s rather than a fortnight in the Maldives but hey, don't climb on your high horse and get all snobby about it.
It’s nowhere near as glamorous but you can't beat family entertainment and magic shows provided by the wonderful Stephen Mulhern or musical strolls down memory lane dished up by the likes of Bad Manners, Heaven 17, Tony Hadley and Eternal or, er, Blue.
Wolves have enjoyed an upturn in fortunes with three wins, a draw and just a couple of defeats from their six matches since dumping Gary O'Neil and getting hitched to their new Portuguese manager.
They started well with a 3-0 victory at Leicester followed by a 2-0 Molineux success against Manchester United before picking up a decent point in a 2-2 draw at Tottenham only to suffer their first setback when they lost at home to Nottingham Forest.
That was followed by a comfortable 2-1 success at Bristol City in the FA Cup, which has set up a tricky but far from insurmountable trip to Blackburn in the fourth round, before they suffered a 3-0 walloping at Newcastle.
Their Monday night journey to London to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge will give fans the opportunity to look at the bigger picture with the dust settling on their association with their new manager.
The Blues were widely regarded as title contenders heading into the festive period last month but three points from their last five Premier League games has quelled much of that exaggerated chat and they are now 13 points behind leaders Liverpool.
The Blues have been unable to comprehensively put away opponents in the top flight and Wolves plus two goals is 17/20 with StarSports and would have paid out in Chelsea's last seven matches.
Backing up the wager is the statistic which shows that Chelsea have kept just one clean sheet in their last eight league games which was a 0-0 draw at Everton.
Cole Palmer is an injury doubt after sitting out training on Friday having picked up an issue in last week’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.
He is 7/2 pretty much across the board to open the scoring if he is fit to play, Matheus Cunha is 3/1 with Sky Bet to reply for the visitors and say hi-de-hi to a 2-1 home win at 17/2 with bet365.
• Alexander Zverev is 13/5 with BetGoodwin to beat Tommy Paul in four sets at the Australian Open as the second week gathers momentum.
• Coco Gauff is 3/1 with Ladbrokes, Coral, Betfred and BetGoodwin to beat Paula Badosa 2-1 in the women’s singles in Melbourne.
