Chelsea transfer target to cost in excess of £40m with blockbuster swap deal a possibility

Chelsea are targeting a move for Bayern Munich's Mathys Tel, but the teenager will cost in excess of £40m according to reports.
The Blues were expected to be quiet in January, but the window seems to be exploding into life and it looks like the club will do business.
Chelsea are looking to bring in a centre back due to injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile, whilst cover at left back will be required if the club let Renato Veiga join Borussia Dortmund.
Tel to cost in excess of £40m
It's not just defensively where Chelsea are looking to add, the Blues also want to strengthen in the forward areas as they look for a striker to compete with Nicolas Jackson.
There have been links with a move for Liam Delap, with the Ipswich man said to be open to making the switch to Stamford Bridge.
However, Delap isn't the only forward target, with Chelsea said to be pursuing a move for Tel with Christopher Nkunku being involved in a potential swap deal.
Tel is currently plying his trade for Bayern, although minutes have been few and far between despite his obvious talent.
The 19-year-old can operate both on the left and as a striker which evidently appeals to Chelsea, although he may take some convincing given his reported desire to succeed at Bayern.
Mail Sport have reported the Frenchman is likely to cost in excess of £40m and add he's viewed as one of the best young forwards in European football.
A potential swap deal with Nkunku has been mentioned, although it's very rare these deals actually happen, but Bayern are believed to have agreed personal terms with the France international.
Having had a quiet start to the window it seems things are now starting to happen, and if Chelsea could get Nkunku off their books and bring in a striker it would certainly help their cause in qualifying for the Champions League.
