Rumor un-mongering
Chelsea B-lineup captain Axel Disasi is not looking to leave the club, according to a report from the BBC, which is meant to dispel some recent speculation that has cropped up, linking him with clubs in Italy and Germany.
Head coach Enzo Maresca has made it pretty clear that he's willing to work with players who may be disillusioned with their playing time, to find "solutions" to their concerns — i.e. "here's the door, don't let it hit you on the way out" — but Disasi apparently "will not push for a move", while in turn, Maresca "is also not expected to push for his exit".
Disasi has not featured much in the league, making just two starts and filling in as emergency right back a couple times, but he's been among the first names on our lineups for the League Cup and the UEFA Conference League, anchoring the defensive line and usually wearing the captain's armband as well. As one of the older players in the squad at the ripe old age of 26, Disasi's also one of the dressing room leaders, whose impact extends beyond just his play on the pitch.
His involvement might even ramp up as we head into the new year given the recent injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoît Badiashile. His future might get re-evaluated in the summer, but for now, there's little reason to think he's not staying.
