Jody Morris believes Chelsea don't need to sign a striker and highlighted where he believes the Blues should strengthen.
Chelsea have made a good start to the season and have exceeded many people's expectations, with the Blues currently third in the table, just a point behind Arsenal in second.
The Boxing Day defeat to Fulham was just Chelsea's third of the season, and the Blues will be looking to round out the year on a winning note against Ipswich on Monday night.
Morris believes Chelsea don't need a striker
With the January window around the corner transfer rumours are starting to heat up, although the Blues aren't expected to have a busy window.
Outgoings are thought to be the main priority, with Chelsea said to be keen to find solutions for Ben Chilwell and Carney Chukwuemeka.
Chelsea are admirers of Liam Delap, who Enzo Maresa has heavily praised ahead of the Ipswich game, whilst they have also been linked with a move for Paris Saint Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani.
It's well documented the Blues want another striker to provide competition for Nicolas Jackson, who has nine league goals this season.
However, Morris feels the Blues don't need a new striker and should be focussing their attention on the other end of the pitch.
"I think we [Chelsea] need an experienced, world-class centre half," he told Rio Ferdinand's YouTube channel.
"I don't think we need a striker, I don't think that's here we're struggling most at the minute. We just need to shore up defensively."
The Blues are actively looking to sign another centre back, although it's more likely to happen in the summer, but there's a chance they could agree a deal for a player in January for them to arrive next summer.
Benfica's Tomas Araujo is a player the Blues are believed to like, whilst there are sure to be many others on the list, and it will be interesting to see who Chelsea decide to go for.
