"It's crazy" – Chelsea's new powerhouse on pushing £100m star out of the team and his rapid recovery

Chelsea had a game last night and have another major fixture on the horizon against Arsenal this weekend. That has meant lots of interesting content coming out on all sides, and that included an interview with Romeo Lavia.
His chat with Malaysian channel Stadium Astro had a lot of really interesting quotes from a player we've not heard much of since he signed 18 months ago, mainly due to the injuries that kept him out of the team all of last year.
Lavia feels he's getting back to his best, and has even impressed himself with his form in the games he's played so far.
Lavia on positive progress against the top sides
"It's crazy to say, but after a year I've been out, I've come back, and the only games that I've played are probably against the best teams in the league," Lavia explained.
"So, this is a very good test to see where I'm at, but definitely no I can go up a gear. But the process is talking it step by step and I'm not worried."
That's what is so exciting to us about Lavia's return so far. The games he's played – notably those against Man City, Liverpool and Man U – have not produced good results. But Lavia has been among the best players in Blue in each of those games, and it really feels like he's ahead of schedule.
We weren't expecting him to be this good this soon but he's already back on track. Not only that, but his partnership with Moises Caicedo is incredibly promising. It's already forced £100m man Enzo Fernandez out of the team, and that's no mean feat.
Just imagine the potential once they've had a full year playing together. If he "goes up a gear" and Caicedo keeps up this good form, we will have an enviable midfield.
