Chelsea have found themselves being drawn into the ongoing dispute between Samu Omorodion and Atlético Madrid after his failed move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Journalist Rubén Uría has hit back at the striker today via El Desmarque as he's continued to criticise Atlético following his move to Porto.

The 20-year-old joined the Portuguese side in a €15m deal in the summer transfer window and has been a big hit so far, bagging four goals in five games in the league and three in two in the Europa League.

The move to Portugal only came about because a potential switch to Chelsea broke down over a failed medical.

The striker had been part of the move involving Conor Gallagher, but medical issues saw Chelsea pull out of the proposal. Gallagher instead headed to Madrid on his own and Omorodion moved to Porto.

The latter has since not held back in his criticism of his former club, stating that nobody from Atlético contacted him before his departure to Porto.

That is something Uría wants to dispute, insisting that the player received nothing but support from the Spanish side, particularly when his moved to Chelsea fell through.

“The news that I have is completely contrary to the version of the footballer,” he said.

“Many people from the coaching staff got in touch with the player. Gustavo López, Cholo Simeone, Carlos Bucero spoke with him.

“If they did anything it was to help him when his medical examination with Chelsea failed. Atlético put doctors at his disposal and worried about the health of the lad. (He) was depressed, they (Chelsea) were giving him a big contract."
