Nottingham Forest have a seriously talented player on their hands and he goes by the name of Murillo.

The Brazilian defender made the move to England from Corinthians in the summer of 2023 and it’s fair to say that he hasn’t looked back.

Manchester City had looked into signing Murillo but wouldn’t pay the £10.6 million transfer fee that Forest ended up parting with for his services.

In the summer, Murillo was subject to vast interest from Chelsea but Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis stood firm on a £70 million valuation.

The 22-year-old has been ever-present in the Premier League since making his debut for Forest during a 1-1 draw with Brentford in October of last year.

Murillo admitted that he had doubts about signing for Forest but he surely won’t regret the decision that he made now.

Forest did brilliantly to keep hold of Murillo in the summer and now some new information has come to light regarding the swashbuckling defensive performer.

How Murillo feels about remaining at Nottingham Forest

Speaking exclusively to Nottingham Forest News, TBR Football transfer guru Graeme Bailey has shared exactly what mindset Murillo currently has at Forest.

The Reds defender has vast interest during the summer but with the Forest owner standing firm, the club can once again count on their star man.

Bailey explained to us: “There’s nothing new on Murillo just yet. The interest remains from many clubs, but the payer is happy at the moment.”

Murillo will benefit from another season at Forest

It would have been quite easy for Murillo to push for a move away from the City Ground in the summer given how much his stock has risen.

However, the player will know that he’s got a good thing going with Forest considering that he’s playing every single week in the Premier League.

The left-footer was sensational last season and scooped the Player of the Year accolade at Forest.

Murillo was praised by Jamie Redknapp in just his second appearance for Forest and he almost scored a Goal of the Season contender in that one against Crystal Palace.

Some seriously big clubs have been quoted with interest in Murillo.

However, at 22 playing regular football is far more important than topping up his bank account or simply being on the books at a big European club.

With some imperfections to iron out, Murillo is in safe hands at Forest for now and he will likely become a better player with another year of football under his belt on Trentside.

The grandest stage awaits at some point for Murillo but right now Forest is the very best club to aid his development.
