"Several times" – Fabrizio Romano shares update on potential future Chelsea transfer

Chelsea have sent scouts to Dortmund several times to follow the progress of Jamie Gittens according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Blues have made a good start to the season and sit fourth in the league, but are currently on a four match winless streak, and the gap to Newcastle has dropped to just one point.
Chelsea were expected to have a quiet January, but defensive injuries to Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana has seemingly altered their plans and it looks like a new centre back could arrive this month.

The Blues are unlikely to add any attacking reinforcements in the window unless Christopher Nkunku leaves the club, which is only possible if he expresses a desire to leave.
Paris Saint Germain are interested in their former player, whilst there's also thought to be interest from Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid.
The Frenchman is said to be unhappy with his minutes and he's currently playing second fiddle to Nicolas Jackson.
Chelsea do have exciting Brazilian teenager Estevao Willian arriving in the summer, but they could be on the lookout for a new winger pending the outcome of Mykhailo Mudryk's failed drugs test, which would leave them a body down.
Romano has reported that Chelsea scouts have been in attendance several times to follow the progress of Gittens.
"Several times scouts from Chelsea and Liverpool have been in attendance to follow Jamie Gitten's progress at Borussia Dortmund," he told his YouTube channel.
Gittens is another young English talent thriving at Dortmund and the 20-year-old has five goals and four assists in 15 Bundesliga appearances this season, whilst he's also scored four goals and provided one assist in six Champions League games.
The winger is certainly one to keep an eye on, but given he's under contract until 2028 any potential deal for the England under-21 international is likely to command a big fee.
Competition for Gittens is set to be fierce and it feels like a number of Europe's top clubs will be weighing up a deal in the summer if he continues to develop how he is over the second half of the season.
