Crystal Palace in mix to sign 'highly coveted' player – Move after January 29th likelier

Last month, we covered claims which stated Crystal Palace have initiated contacts over a move for Benfica’s Jan-Niklas Beste.
On January 10th, A Bola backed up the Premier League side want to sign the German and insisted Benfica need a 'truly irresistible' offer to sanction a move in the winter market.
Friday’s edition of O Jogo again mentions Crystal Palace’s interest in the left-back, who can also operate as a winger.
Beste has been limited to a backup role this season, clocking in over 800 minutes from 22 games. The report states his situation at the Portuguese club hasn’t stopped him from being ‘highly coveted’ by other clubs.
Crystal Palace have joined Brentford, Borussia Monchengladbach, VfB Stuttgart, 1. FSV Mainz 05 and RB Leipzig.
SC Freiburg are also in this list, after their manager, Julian Schuster, confirmed his side’s interest in the Crystal Palace target.
“He has a very interesting profile. He had a great year at Heidenheim, with a lot of goals. It was a tremendous weapon, also in terms of level of play. He is versatile, a completely exciting and interesting player,” he said, relayed by O Jogo.
Bruno Lage has favoured Álvaro Carreras for the left-back slot, and he is suspended for the Champions League tie against Juventus on January 29th. Beste is expected to feature against the Turin club, so a move will likely have to wait until after then.
