Everton are among the clubs chasing Ajax’s Devyne Rensch, according to a report from the Netherlands.

The right-back’s deal expires in the summer and he’s made 24 appearances in all competitions so far this season. The 21-year-old’s profile, performances and contract situation have seen him attract interest from Everton and several other clubs.

Algemeen Dagblad claim there’s ‘lots of interest’ in the player, who could now leave Ajax in the winter market.

The newspaper has ruled out the possibility of Rensch signing an extension, meaning this window will be Ajax’s last chance to collect a fee for him.

Everton, Marseille and Napoli are all ‘seriously interested’ in siging the fullback for free in the summer.

AS Roma are looking to get ahead of the competition and tabled a €5m bid, which was rejected by the Eredivisie side. David Moyes’ side must offer more than €5m if they are to sign the Netherlands international in January.

Ajax director Alex Kroes has opened the door for Rensch’s transfer in this window.

“If you have already played against RKC a few times, such as last weekend, then at some point you also think: ‘I want to play against Juventus, Barcelona or Real Madrid’,” he said.

“We have tried to extend his contract and so far have not been successful. In the short term we want to keep him to qualify for the Champions League. But at the same time, you also have the chance that you can get a nice amount for him.”

Séamus Coleman and Nathan Patterson are currently the right-backs at Goodison Park, and the 36-year-old’s deal lasts until 2025. Rensch could replace Coleman at Everton, but the Toffees have to overcome tough competition to secure his services.
