Neal Maupay has explained he goes out of his way to troll Everton, simply because he has a platform to do so.

Foot Mercato cover comments from the striker today in which he shows no intent to cool the bad blood between him and his parent club.

Maupay is currently on loan at Marseille from Everton. He joined the French side at the end of the summer as an emergency loan signing to bolster Roberto de Zerbi's side.

He had only briefly been a part of Everton's squad again this season after returning from a loan spell at Brentford. That brief period was enough to see him fall out completely with Everton fans, with some confronting him after a loss to Tottenham.

Since then, the striker has gone out of his way to stir the fires, posting on X whenever he can. His latest, following the defeat to Nottingham Forest, again caused outrage. Indeed, reports in England stated that Everton had spoken to him about the matter.

Maupay, though, appears to care little. And in his latest comments showed no desire to stop his feud. In fact, he intends to continue posting on social media in future.

"I like to sleep and that's all. Social networks are for everyone, everyone gives their opinion, I do it too," he said.

"It’s not because I play football that I have to deprive myself of it. I like to send barbs like the supporters and players do.

"I have always been myself. You think I’m crazy, but you don’t sleep with your friends? I just have a platform… I did it before, I will do it after football. For some players, with notoriety, it’s complicated to be yourself. I prefer to be myself."
