Newcastle United were linked with a move for Juventus' Federico Gatti in the last summer transfer window. Everton have also been suggested as a potential destination in the past.

While the Italian centre-back has been a regular for the Old Lady this season and has played 39 times in all competitions, his future in Turin is far from certain.

TuttoJuve’s Mirko di Natale has reported an update on Gatti’s situation at Juventus, stating talks about the centre-back’s renewal have been postponed until the end of the season.

This has brought about uncertainty and the report mentions that the defender is still 'in the sights' of both Everton and Newcastle United.

The 26-year-old’s current deal at Juve runs out in the summer of 2028. This means that Newcastle and Everton would have to offer a decent fee to sign Gatti, unless the Bianconeri want to push him out.

The player’s loyalty has previously been praised by the Italian press and it remains to be seen if his love for Juventus is still in the same place as before.

Juventus are currently fifth in Serie A and if they fail to qualify for the Champions League then all previous certainties are thrown into the air in chaos. There’d be sales previously considered unlikely, and Premier League clubs could take advantage.

Their sale of Dean Huijsen to Bournemouth last summer shows Juve aren’t immune to throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
