Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga is a man firmly on a mission.
Since bagging a winning goal against Aston Villa in December, Elanga has rediscovered his best form and has won a place back on the Sweden reckoning.
The 22-year-old signed for Forest for just £15 million from Manchester United in the summer of 2023.
His first season playing regularly in the Premier League went well with Elanga scoring five goals and claiming nine assists across the 2023/24 campaign.
This season, he looks well on course to eclipse that total and with nine games remaining he’s already matched his numbers from last season across the board.
In the summer, Newcastle tried to snare Elanga from Forest but Evangelos Marinakis stood firm and that decision now looks justified.
Anthony Elanga finally addresses Newcastle interest
Amid Saudi ownership and a huge Carabao Cup win last Sunday, Newcastle are back on the map.
Not since the days of Kevin Keegan and shortly after Sir Bobby Robson have the Magpies been this fashionable and they will provide an attractive proposition for players in the summer.
Elanga, however, is happy at Forest it would seem and has no desire to switch to the North East any time soon.
He told Fotbollskanalen: “If I have a good season there will always be teams that want to talk but right now, I have to say that I’m in Nottingham and I’m really happy there.”

Some might want to file this under media-contrived professionals being exactly that – professional.
However, Elanga does fit the ethos very nicely at Forest and in a lot of the content that the club puts out, he’s at the forefront of the dressing room and seems to fit in really well.
At 22, Elanga is at a club where he knows that he will play every single week and that is certainly ideal for his development.

Appearances | 29 |
Goals | 5 |
Assists | 9 |
Dribbles | 60 |
Key Passes | 39 |
Furthermore, Forest currently look in good shape to reach the Champions League and that will surely tempt the vast majority of players into remaining on Trentside next season too.
Newcastle are in direct competition for one of those five Champions League places and it’s great to hear that Elanga hasn’t been swayed at this stage.
