Nottingham Forest have seen the very best of Matz Sels this season, yet it’s been claimed that they could seek an upgrade in the summer.
Nuno Espirito Santo has turned to Matz Sels as his first-choice goalkeeper at Nottingham Forest, despite Carlos Miguel joining in the summer.
Sels admitted it was a risk to join Forest, but it’s certainly paid off.
The Belgian was criticised for mistakes he made earlier on this season, and rightly so. However, he’s put them behind him and now looks unmovable in-between the sticks.
It appears that there may still be slight doubts about him, as Nottingham Forest seek a possible upgrade in the summer transfer window.

Nottingham Forest could upgrade on Matz Sels with Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher namedropped
Given that Nottingham Forest currently have the second best defensive record in the Premier League, there’s certainly no need to change things in January.
Sels continues to be called up by Belgium on the international stage, a great reward for the consistency he’s shown during Forest’s positive run.
Speaking exclusively to Nottingham Forest News, Graeme Bailey has stated that he believes Forest could look to upgrade on Matz Sels in the summer.
“Forest certainly won’t be looking at a goalkeeper in January, I don’t think. Sels, yeah, he’s had a very good season. They’ll probably still think they can upgrade that area, so come the summer, it’ll depend on where they finish.
“I wouldn’t rule them out trying to upgrade if the right one comes around, we’ve seen the links with Kelleher. Could he arrive in a deal if Liverpool wanted Murillo or Gibbs-White? I certainly wouldn’t rule anything like that out.
“But I suspect that they might look to upgrade next summer.”
Caoimhin Kelleher’s performances for Liverpool this season
Caoimhin Kelleher has been in inspired form for Liverpool since Alisson Becker suffered his injury.
He’s conceded just four goals in six games for the Reds in all competitions, but once Alisson returns he may start looking at a potential exit strategy as he’s too good to be a back-up.
It’s been claimed that Liverpool want £30 million for Kelleher, which is a price that seems reasonable when the summer comes around.
Kelleher is seven years younger than Sels and still has his best years ahead of him, so it could be seen as a smart move should Forest firm up their potential interest.
