It has been a sensational start to the season for Nottingham Forest who are going into the latest round of fixtures in seventh spot.

Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side have been able to rack up eight points from their opening four games in their unbeaten start to the campaign.

This has the Reds just two points off second spot in what has been an unexpectedly positive season so far.

And the last outing in their trip to Anfield saw Forest provide Liverpool with the shock of the season after coming away from Merseyside with all three points.

The Reds have been able to make such a positive start to the season despite suffering some injury blows in these early stages of the campaign.

And there is one player who has filled in for Nuno who Chris Sutton has said has been getting on the nerves of the opposition.

Chris Sutton impressed by ‘special’ Nottingham Forest player

Forest have not had it plain sailing so far this season with Danilo having suffered an injury which has required surgery.

And more recently, Ibrahim Sangare has been sidelined through his own injury issue which is believed to be significant.

Clearly, that has not proven too much of an issue for the Reds who have still been able to pull off results like that of last weekend without the midfield pairing.

Speaking in his weekly prediction column for BBC Sport, Sutton has suggested the Reds could pull off what would be a solid 1-1 draw away to Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend.

However, he also focused on some of the individual performances at Anfield last weekend with the ‘specialRyan Yates‘ display one which caught his eye.

“It is hard to predict a defeat for Nottingham Forest now because they were so good at Liverpool and their backline of Nikola Milenkovic, Murillo, Alex Moreno and Ola Aina were just tremendous,” he said.

“Forest also had James Ward-Prowse just sitting in front of their back four ticking things over and Ryan Yates alongside him getting on everyone’s nerves with his tenacity.

“Their substitutes came on and impacted the game at Anfield as well and the whole team had such composure.

“So, while I look at Brighton and think they are capable of scoring, based on what I saw from Forest, why would I say they will lose?”

Nottingham Forest could cause some real upsets this season

Having battled relegation all of last season, the start to the new campaign has provided a much more promising outlook for the Reds.

Of course, Forest are not going to go the full season unbeaten but the early signs have shown a much more resilient Forest side to what fans saw last season.

But it is the efforts of players like the £25k-per-week Yates which can have gone a long way towards securing the points which have Forest sitting firmly in the top half.

However, fans will not be grumbling too much as they sit on double the points which Tottenham Hotspur have been able to rack up so far.
