Nottingham Forest returned to winning ways against Ipswich Town, as Chris Wood’s ninth goal of the season did the job.

Chris Wood is in the form of his life. That’s now nine goals in 13 appearances for Nottingham Forest, which no one would have ever imagined prior to the season starting.

Ipswich Town did a good job containing Wood, but they stood no chance from the penalty spot as he fired the Reds to another victory.

It wasn’t straight forward though, as Ipswich had their chances but the three points is all the matters, helping get the European bid back on track.

Interestingly, former Nottingham Forest player Steve Hodge wasn’t too impressed with one player this afternoon, as he criticised him on BBC Radio.

Jota Silva got the nod to start on the right-hand side of midfield for the first time this season, but it didn’t go to plan as he didn’t offer a great deal.

One of the only positives for the Portuguese winger was winning the penalty that Chris Wood put away.

Steve Hodge, when speaking on BBC Radio Nottingham, wasn’t too pleased with Jota Silva’s display and felt he could do better.

“I don’t think he was great today, I think Elanga probably does offer more. But he has won the penalty, but ultimately he’ll know he can play better than that.”

Jota Silva’s performance in numbers against Ipswich

Jota played 78 minutes before being substituted for Anthony Elanga.

He had 29 touches of the ball, a 50% passing accuracy, made one key pass, failed with both of his crosses, completed one long ball, created one big chance, won a penalty, completed his only dribble, won eight out of 13 duels, lost possession 13 times, committed one foul, made two clearances, one interception, was fouled three times and dribbled past twice (SofaScore).

Nuno Espirito Santo may opt to go back to Elanga midweek, knowing he offers a little bit more on the ball, and he will be even more valuable on the counter attack against Manchester City.
