Nottingham Forest have already completed a signing – and are simply waiting until after June 30th to pay.
For those of you who are unaware, June 30th signals the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) deadline – by which Nottingham Forest must raise £20m.
A new financial year then begins, with Nottingham Forest planning to pay for a first signing of the summer once July starts…
Nottingham Forest have signed Carlos Miguel
An update from South American journalist Bruno Andrade claims that Nottingham Forest have pretty much signed Carlos Miguel from Corinthians – and just need to send the money to the Brazilian giants.
A €4m (£3m) deal has been agreed, with the Reds now “just waiting” to deposit the cash.
Andrade wrote on X: “Carlos Miguel. Nottingham Forest is just waiting for the definition of financial fair play in the Premier League for 24/25 to deposit the 4 million euros of the fine into Corinthians’ account. There is a verbal agreement with the goalkeeper (5 years contract), and he himself has already announced that he is leaving.”
The deal has sparked fury from CNN in Brazil – as club legend Cassio was only recently sold to ensure Miguel became No.1 at Corinthians.
Another goalkeeper could follow
A story from the Telegraph states that two goalkeepers are likely to join Nottingham Forest this summer, with Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos both expected to leave.
Miguel looks set to become the first of these two goalkeeping additions, and it is said that Crystal Palace No.1 Sam Johnstone could be the second – after losing his place to Dean Henderson at Selhurst Park.
Nottingham Forest saw a bid rejected for the England international in January – and have not given up hope of luring the Manchester United academy graduate to the City Ground.
Be sure to keep an eye on developments at Nottingham Forest – as there is also optimism over a striker joining on a free transfer…
