Nottingham Forest won at Liverpool in the league for the first time since 1969 on Saturday to maintain their unbeaten start to the Premier League season.

Forest won the Anfield clash thanks to a 72nd-minute goal from Callum Hudson-Odoi who left Alisson stranded with a trademark finish.

Hudson-Odoi cut in from the left and fired an unstoppable effort beyond the Brazilian goalkeeper and silenced the home faithful.

You could have thrown eight or nine names into the hat when choosing a Man of the Match on Saturday, such was the massive effort from the players.

Forest have to show this level of commitment for the remainder of the season and if that is the case, it’s extremely exciting to see how far this team can go.

Alan Shearer names surprise Nottingham Forest player in Team of the Week

Although there could be a compelling argument made for any Forest player to make the Team of the Week, Elliot Anderson perhaps wasn’t near the top of the list.

The man signed for £35 million from Newcastle was typically energetic and full of determination but there were other players who perhaps craved the limelight more.

Shearer was impressed though and he did name him in his Team of the Week for his efforts against Liverpool.

He told the Premier League official website: “His work-rate at Anfield was incredible, with the former Newcastle midfielder already looking comfortable at his new club.”

Anderson could be signing of the season for Forest

At 21, Anderson was definitely signed by Forest because he fits the club’s ethos of signing younger players with considerable resale value.

Newcastle didn’t want to let Anderson leave in the summer but with PSR hanging over the club, they were left with little choice.

Anderson has made a solid start to life at Forest and it’s impossible to knock his work rate – something which Shearer has praised him for this week.

The player is so versatile and that could be seriously beneficial for Forest over the course of a long Premier League season.

Anderson has so much potential and it’s seriously exciting to see just what he can achieve at Forest this season.
