Nuno Espirito Santo has already leaned on the experience of Chris Wood on a number of occasions this season, and it looks as if there’s a familiar face also helping out behind the scenes.

Nottingham Forest have been battling with VAR and referees, as well as the opposition in recent times.

It all started with Morgan Gibbs-White being given his marching orders against Brighton and Hove Albion, which led to an independent committee voting 3-2 in favor of the midfielder.

Most recently, a couple of controversial errors caused Forest to lose 1-0 to Fulham, as Murillo was adjudged to have fouled an opposition player in the penalty area.

At the other end of the field, Anthony Elanga was brought down by Calvin Bassey but the referee and VAR were unmoved by the challenge.

However, the club have already moved on and are now focused on facing Chelsea.

A familiar face training with Nottingham Forest

Nuno Espirito Santo has fantastic attention to detail when it comes to training and altering tactics, which is what enabled him to do so well during his time at Wolves.

Forest have the chance to get one over on Chelsea once again at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, after Anthony Elanga’s winner last season.

Interestingly, it looks as if Forest have been calling upon the experience of a familiar face in training, despite him not being signed to the club.

According to John Percy, Nottingham Forest have allowed Wayne Hennessey to train with them despite him being a free agent, and he’s become a popular figure at the club.

Wayne Hennessey’s time at Nottingham Forest

Wayne Hennessey left Nottingham Forest in the summer after the expiry of his contract.

He only made nine appearances during his time at the City Ground, but was a valuable member in the squad, which is why it looks as if Forest have kept him on unofficially.

With 350 appearances at club level in his career and 109 appearances for Wales on the international stage, he has valuable experience he can pass on to Carlos Miguel and Matz Sels.
