Nottingham Forest’s stellar summer transfer window continues to reap rewards for Nuno Espirito Santo, with Elliot Anderson being one of Forest’s best deals.

Anderson signed for Forest from Newcastle United in the summer and has become a mainstay in the midfield of Forest’s squad, helping his side climb to third in the Premier League.

The Englishman’s performances have not gone unnoticed at the City Ground after Alan Shearer praised Anderson for the tremendous impact he’s made at the club so far.

It’s no surprise then that Anderson is already receiving interest from football’s biggest names as Liverpool have been scouting Anderson ahead of a potential move down the line.

However, details from the transfer with Newcastle show that his former club won’t have a headstart if they do wish to return for AndersonReport: Nottingham Forest masterclass as key Elliot Anderson contract detail emerges after Newcastle move.

Newcastle United have no buy-back clause on Elliot Anderson

In a report by the Daily Mail, the inner workings of the Anderson deal were discussed, revealing a brilliant piece of negotiating by Evangelos Marinakis.

The report said: “Anderson's excellent form of late with third-placed Nottingham Forest has led fans to wonder whether Newcastle included a provision to buy back their academy graduate at a future date. However, we understand that no such clause exists.”

This is undoubtedly brilliant news for Forest fans, as a potential buy-back clause could have seen Anderson return to Newcastle for a fee that had been pre-determined, therefore not factoring in his excellent form under the Forest manager.

It also means that were a bidding war to start for the English midfielder, Marinakis could charge a fee that represents excellent value for Forest, rather than being tied to a figure set by Newcastle. Most importantly, though, it secures the future of one of Forest’s most important players.

Elliot Anderson has become crucial to Nottingham Forest

Alongside Forest’s signing of Nikola Milenkovic, Anderson has been an instant hit at the City Ground, with his stats this season showing how crucial he’s been to Espirito Santo.

Even without his five Premier League assists, Anderson still creates an average of two chances per game as well as 3.58 touches in the opposition box per 90 minutes.

He even stars defensively for Forest, winning 70.2% of his tackles per match and 64.7% of his aerial duels, alongside 7.08 defensive recoveries per game.

A midfielder who excels in all aspects of the game is a rare commodity in football but Anderson’s stats show that he offers Espirito Santo the perfect balance to his two-man midfield system.

Interest in Anderson will undoubtedly continue, but his performances alongside the lack of a buy-back clause from Newcastle should see the midfield star remain at Forest for some time.
