Tottenham Hotspur are back on the right track after claiming three wins in a row in all competitions over the past 10 days.

Spurs made amends for their North London defeat by recording a 2-1 win over Coventry City last week to edge into the fourth round of the League Cup.

Tottenham then ran out 3-1 winners over Brentford in the Premier League before then defeating Qarabag 3-0 in their Europa League opener.

Although they haven’t been flawless performance-wise over the past three games, there can’t be any complaints about the results.

One player who continues to split opinion is Guglielmo Vicario, who can deliver brilliant performances, as he did against Qarabag, but remains under scrutiny at other times.

For instance, it is well documented that he hasn’t been particularly amazing at commanding his box, especially when it comes to set pieces.

However, Ange Postecoglou has no qualms about his goalkeeper’s quality, not to mention his attitude, which resulted in him getting the captain’s armband during Thursday’s match.

The Tottenham boss revealed one thing which Vicario does on his days off which has impressed him.

Tottenham keeper Guglielmo Vicario even comes into work during days off

Postecoglou told football.london on Friday after his great display against Qarabag: “He has been great since the day he arrived mate.

“Criticism is just part of the nature of football these days. We have had a few under the spotlight.

“I included him in the leadership (group) this year, I have just seen his growth. He is one of those guys who is really positive.

“He comes in every day wanting to work, he comes in on his days off wanting to work. He is a great example for everyone and a great human being as well.

“I thought he could add something to our leadership group. It's great for him to get the armband last night and I thought he rose to the occasion.

“He was big for us. He hasn't had to make too many big saves in the first few games for us but we needed him for a couple last night and he was great.”

Vicario on the right track

Although Vicario’s command of his box during set-pieces has come under scrutiny, it’s good to hear that he’s eager to put the work in to improve at Tottenham.

Attitude and character are just as important as talent in football, and based on Postecoglou’s comments, the £17million man is really keen to work hard on improving and maintaining his levels.
