CJ Egan-Riley has received reactions from Man United and Aston Villa stars following an announcement on social media over his season at Burnley.

Scott Parker‘s defence is experiencing an incredible campaign at Turf Moor, having only conceded 11 goals in 38 matches as the Clarets look to gain promotion out of the Championship.

Daniel Farke’s Leeds United and Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United are currently joint-top of the league on points, with Burnley just two points behind, but there is plenty of time left for twists and turns.

With 27 clean sheets in 38 matches, the team’s consistency is what is likely to see the Clarets go above Leeds or the Blades over the coming weeks, and Parker will have Egan-Riley to thank if that happens.

Scott Parker could deliver Premier League football to Turf Moor this season.

CJ Egan-Riley recognised for brilliant Burnley performances

Egan-Riley received recognition for his performances last month, taking to Instagram [18 March] to write: “Happy to have won EA Sports’ EFL Young Player of the Month for February,” with a happy face and handshake emojis.

Man United‘s Amad and Villa’s Morgan Rogers both liked the post, as did Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala, while Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento jokingly said: “Lower the physical,” referencing the player’s FIFA card.

Football Insider verdict

The Clarets are set for a very exciting ending to the 2024/25 campaign, and still to face the likes of Derby County, QPR and Millwall, their run-in might aid them more than Leeds or Sheffield United.

Parker’s side are currently unbeaten in 25 league matches, putting them in the perfect position to leap to the top of the pile right at the last moment, having only fallen two points behind at this point.

Automatic promotion is still on the cards at Turf Moor.

A financial boost may also be on its way to Turf Moor, with Stefan Borson telling Football Insider that Burnley could be owed compensation from Everton in the region of £10-15million.

This comes after the Clarets were relegated from the Premier League instead of the Toffees, who were found guilty of overspending and docked points in the following campaign, seeing the club miss out on broadcast money.

If Parker can deliver promotion to Turf Moor once again, that kind of money could be incredibly key for keeping Burnley in the top tier of English football and allow them to fight for a spot in the Premier League.
