Ange Postecoglou has been handed a big injury boost ahead of the Carabao Cup clash against Liverpool with two players returning to training on Monday.
Postecoglou’s squad has been decimated by injuries this season with nine players missing against Newcastle including Guglielmo Vicario, Fraser Forster, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Ben Davies, Destiny Udogie, Rodrigo Bentancur, Wilson Odobert, Mikey Moore and Richarlison.
The North London club will now have four of those players back with Forster set to return from illness and Rodrigo Bentancur back from suspension.
Richarlison and Mikey Moore return to Tottenham training
Richarlison and Mikey Moore returned to Tottenham training on Monday giving Ange Postecoglou two strong attacking back available. The Australian manager’s options in the forward areas have been significantly limited by injuries, which has seen Dominic Solanke overused.
The Brazilian’s return is big news for Spurs as it will ease the pressure on Solanke. Postecoglou will need to manage Richarlison’s minutes though given his worrying injury record.
Meanwhile, Moore is another great option, especially given Heung-min Son’s form taking a big dip this season. The 17-year-old was just hitting his stride before picking up an illness which has prevented him from playing since October.
Richarlison and Moore are unlikely to start against Arne Slot’s team but having two players back fit will alleviate some of the pressure on their current options.
Antonin Kinksy and Yang Min-hyeok take part in training
Tottenham were unsure whether Antonin Kinksy’s work permit would arrive in time, however, the new signing is now in the clear and is available to make his debut. Kinksy admitted he is ready to play against Liverpool and the 21-year-old could replace Brandon Austin following the shot-stopper’s Man of the Match display against Newcastle.
Yang Min-hyeok also took part in training on Monday as he continues to prepare for life in the Premier League. The South Korean forward can be selected but will likely be given time to adjust to his new surroundings before being thrown in at the deep end.
