Arsenal are monitoring Victor Osimhen for a potential January deal as they plot a a box-office deal, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O'Rourke revealed that "most of the big boys" will be looking at the 25-year-old if there's a chance that he could be signed for a cut-price deal in the upcoming transfer window.
But he warned that Arsenal would likely need to "break the bank" to sign the Nigeria international, and it remains unclear whether the club would do that in January.
Osimhen is currently on loan at Galatasaray, but if there is a clause allowing Napoli to recall and sell him then there is some potential for a move.
Chelsea had been very strong on him during the summer transfer window and worked until the last hours to try to make a deal happen, but due to Nicolas Jackson’s performances he's no longer seen as a necessary signing for the Blues.
However, the Gunners have struggled in front of goal at times this season and the reliance on corners has become an issue for Mikel Arteta's side.
Arsenal will face competition to sign Victor Osimhen
Chelsea might not be competing for Osimhen's signature in January, but the Gunners are expected to face competition within the Premier League to try and sign him.
Man United are another club monitoring his progress in Turkey right now and also needs help at the top end of the pitch.
Ruben Amorim's team has only scored 21 goals from their 18 games this season, with the 20-time champions currently languishing 14th in the table.
Neither Rasmus Hojlund nor Joshua Zirkzee have been able to provide the firepower that United needs to pick up regular points, which could lead to the club looking for other options.
Osimhen joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan during the summer transfer window and has continued his prolific form in front of goal.
The striker has scored 12 goals in 15 appearances while also providing five assists.
