Arsenal have enjoyed a superb season so far and, with the January transfer window set to open soon, they could potentially bring in some reinforcements.

As they don’t have a No. 9 in their ranks at present, the Gunners have been linked with a host of centre-forwards such as Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres.

There’s also scope for Arsenal to sign a new midfielder as Thomas Partey’s contract expires next summer and no progress appears to have been made on a new deal.

Arsenal could now potentially make the most of their relationship with William Saliba’s agent to bring in a “world-class” talent who has been compared to Patrick Vieira.

The player in question is Lucien Agoume, who has been making a real name for himself at Sevilla this year.

It has been reported that Arsenal are eyeing a move to sign Agoume, a France Under-21 international, as a potential replacement for Partey.

Foot Mercato has now provided an update in which they say Arsenal have put Agoume on their 'shortlist' because of his displays and potential.

The Gunners 'really appreciate' the 22-year-old's profile and are keen on signing him, added the report.

In addition, the report also says Arsenal’s ties with Saliba’s agent could be an advantage for Mikel Arteta's side to sign Agoume.

Both Saliba and Agoume are registered with the ND Sports Management agency, who also represents Udinese defensive talent Isaak Toure.

Arsenal could – and should – certainly make the most of their relationship with the agency to get the edge on the likes of Barcelona for Agoume.

Lucien Agoume a ‘world-class’ talent with ’10/10′ potential

Several years ago, Football Talent Scout‘s Jacek Kulig sung Agoume’s praises as they gave him the highest possible rating with regards to his potential.

Kulig deemed him a ‘midfield controller’ and a ‘well-rounded, hard-working team player’ who boasts ‘natural leadership skills, really interesting technique on the ball, vision, decision taking on the ball and passing ability at all distances’.

Kulig also likened Agoume to Patrick Vieira and put him in an exclusive list of players who have been given the 10 out of 10 ‘world-class potential’ tag.

All in all, Agoume looks like a great shout for Arsenal to sign, though it remains to be seen how much Sevilla would now want for their player.

They paid just £4million for Agoume earlier this year, but with his upward trajectory, potential and contract that runs until 2028, Arsenal won’t find it easy to land him.
