Arsenal star Gabriel responds to Joao Pedro after Brighton win at Man United
Today at 10:00 AM
Brighton forward Joao Pedro shared his excitement on social media after his team secured a 3-1 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Fabian Hurzeler's side took an early lead through Yankuba Minteh, which was briefly nullified by a Bruno Fernandes penalty. However, Brighton regained control with goals from Kaoru Mitoma and Georginio Rutter to seal an impressive victory.
Pedro also found the net during the match, but his goal was controversially disallowed due to a foul in the build-up – a decision described as "accidental" by former PGMOL chief Keith Hackett.
The Brazilian celebrated the win on Instagram, where his post received a like from Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes.
Brighton shine but Man United keep struggling
Brighton faced a challenging week with back-to-back away fixtures against Ipswich and United but navigated both with composure, securing two crucial wins.
They are now riding a wave of momentum, with three consecutive victories in all competitions. This marks a strong recovery from a mid-season slump that saw them draw four straight matches before this run.
In stark contrast, Ruben Amorim's side is enduring a rough patch, losing five of their last eight matches. Recent performances have left fans frustrated, with criticism directed at players like Noussair Mazraoui.
While United have proven capable of competing with top teams, such as their win against Man City even without Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho, their struggles against mid-table sides like Brighton highlight inconsistencies that need addressing.
Football Insider Verdict
Pedro has been in fine form this season, registering 10 goal contributions in 16 matches. His standout performances have attracted interest from Liverpool, who are preparing groundwork for a potential deal.
Arsenal, also in need of a striker, may see Pedro's camaraderie with centre-back Gabriel as an advantage if they enter the race for his signature.
Fans will hope his focus stay with them as they face Everton on 25 January at the Amex Stadium.
In other news, Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba posted a message to fans.
