Earlier this week, Record reported Aston Villa are showing interest in Levante star Andrés García for the winter market.
There was also a suggestion Aston Villa director Monchi could have identified the 21-year-old as a target for the Villans.
Thursday’s edition of A Bola backs up Aston Villa’s desire to sign the right-back when covering Sporting’s interest.
Vitória Guimarães's Alberto Costa was identified as the main target for the Lions, but he decided to join Juventus. Therefore, they have prioritised a move for García and have made first contact with the Segunda División club to try and close the deal.
The newspaper states the Spanish club would like to earn €10m for the fullback. This is a ‘high valuation’ for Sporting, who will also have to deal with competition from Aston Villa, Real Betis, Sevilla and Corinthians.
Levante are in contention to return to La Liga while they are struggling financially. The Portuguese club hope to use this to convince the Spanish club to sell the defender.
The report adds the player is aware of the Primeira Liga side’s interest and would be open to joining them.
O Jogo and Record are reporting Unai Emery’s side will provide competition to Sporting in the race for the Levante player. Aston Villa have the chance to ruin Sporting’s plans in a similar way to how Juventus did.
