Aston Villa interest in player 'downplayed' – Haven't 'fully decided' on January transfer effort

Aston Villa's apparent interest in Celta Vigo's Oscar Mingueza is not as strong as indicated, with a move for him not yet fully decided upon.
That's according to journalist Víctor López, who has 'downplayed' the interest from Aston Villa according to Moi Celeste.
The website reports that after the initial reports about Aston Villa's interest in Mingueza yesterday, there has been a serious downplaying of their efforts.
This has come via López, who appeared on the Radio Galega programme AO Contraataque to discuss the reports around the defender.
According to him, Aston Villa have not 'fully decided' on a move for the 25-year-old and he is simply one more option that they have on their list to reinforce their defence this month.
He added that Celta Vigo are not interested in selling the player and would demand his release clause be paid if he were to leave. Mingueza, though, does not consider a move an option for him. He is happy at Vigo and has recently bought a house in the area too.
His release clause is €20m, although 50% of this will go to his former club Barcelona as part of the agreement to sign him in the summer of 2022.
Whether Aston Villa would be willing to pay that this month remains to be seen and for now, the word from Spain is that they are simply assessing rather than moving for the defender.
