Aston Villa need €10m more for signing – Their €20m offer is not enough

Aston Villa have seen a €20m offer for Ferran Torres rejected by Barcelona, who want €30m to sanction a sale.

That's according to El Nacional.cat, who report that Aston Villa need to offer €10m more to get the latest reinforcement for Unai Emery's squad.

They report that Torres has been 'completely sentenced' by Hans-Dieter Flick, who has given him minutes to impress him and started him in games but not come away convinced Torres is a part of his long-term plans.

The forward has gone 'completely unnoticed' when given his chance, with one goal and two assists a poor return compared to the likes of Lamine Yamal, Raphinha or Robert Lewandowski.

Those in charge at the Camp Nou are 'fed up' with the player and now both Joan Laporta and director of football Deco plan to force him out in the January transfer window.

They're happy to look at offers and have already received one from Aston Villa. They see the Valencian as an interesting option to strengthen their forward line and offered €20m for his signing.

Laporta and Deco want more, however, and are confident of getting it. They believe they can get €30m for the forward, given he cost €55m almost three years ago.

Whether Aston Villa would be willing to pay that, isn't mentioned. They're not scared of big fees and have continued to back Emery, but only at figures they consider right for the project.

Given Torres isn't wanted by Barcelona, Monchi and his team may feel a better price can be struck on this occasion.

We also need to take this one with a pinch of salt given it's coming from El Nacional, but the lack of any kind of sensationalism on their part here does hint there may be something to it.
