According to a claim in the Turkish media, Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos is on the verge of signing for Fenerbahce, after reports of an agreement between the two clubs.
The 31-year-old has been linked with a move to the Super Lig giants throughout this transfer window as Jose Mourinho looks to bring in an experienced central defender.
Fanatik today report on the latest developments regarding the future of the Aston Villa player, and they say the Brazilian will soon be travelling to Turkey.
It's claimed Carlos is expected to arrive in Istanbul tonight ahead of his proposed transfer to the Yellow Canaries. The Turkish media outlet report the defender should soon be announced officially as a Fenerbahce player.
Turkish journalist Sercan Hamzaoglu also backs up these reports from Fanatik and he also says Carlos will be undergoing the medical in Istanbul.
At the weekend we covered reports that Aston Villa have agreed a €13m transfer fee with Fenerbahce and that Carlos has accepted a €4m annual contract. Some Turkish reports state the transfer fee is €11m, and that would certainly be seen as a good deal by Fener.
This season, Carlos has found his chances limited with Villa and is reportedly keen to find a new club. He's featured in just 10 Premier League games and hasn't been involved in the past two.
