Ben Doak may be upset by what Liverpool have now decided to do - opinion

Liverpool have an outstanding talent on their hands in Ben Doak.
The 18-year-old has already won four caps for Scotland since swapping Celtic for Liverpool back in 2022, impressing many with his electric displays on the wing.
Jurgen Klopp was a huge fan of Doak before passing the reins to Arne Slot, handing the teenager his Premier League debut in a 3-1 win over Aston Villa back in December 2022, which made him the youngest Scottish player to appear in the Premier League.
The Dalry-born sensation is spending the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Middlesbrough to gain further experience, where he has one assist in eight Championship appearances so far as he aims to impress Slot and earn a shot at Anfield next term.
Now – however – Ben Doak may feel upset by what Liverpool have just decided to do.
Ben Doak might feel disillusioned as Liverpool open talks to sign Omar Marmoush
A story from Sky Germany now states that Liverpool have opened talks with Eintracht Frankfurt over a deal to sign Omar Marmoush.
The Egypt international has started the 2024/25 campaign on fire, sitting alongside Harry Kane at the top of the Bundesliga scoring charts with nine goals in eight appearances so far.
While Marmoush would clearly be a very exciting addition by Richard Hughes – Director of Football at Anfield – it could send out a negative message to Doak.
The Scottish wonderkid is already facing a huge battle to cement himself at Liverpool, given the fact Slot can boast a number of top attackers such as Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez.
Therefore, it would potentially demoralise Doak – who Pep Lijnders compared to Arjen Robben – if he witnessed Marmoush arrive at Anfield too, shoving him even further down the pecking order.
Arne Slot must make Ben Doak feel valued at Anfield
Even the best clubs can often disillusion their own talents and drive them away, as Manchester City did when losing Cole Palmer to Chelsea.
Therefore, even if Slot cannot find a way to get Doak – who Kenny Dalglish rates – involved next season, the Dutchman must still ensure he speaks regularly to the Scotland international and makes him feel valued, as it would be a huge disappointment should he end up leaving Merseyside.
Hopefully, the Scot can light up the Championship with Middlesbrough this season, and make a name for himself at Anfield next term.
