Ruben Amorim's start to life at Manchester United didn't exactly go to plan on Sunday.

The Red Devils drew 1-1 with Ipswich at the weekend, and there were perhaps more questions than answers around United after this game.

Speaking on BBC 606, Robbie Savage has been discussing this first performance under Amorim, and he's shared an interesting verdict on some of Manchester United's personnel.

Savage says that Marcus Rashford looks at home up front, but he shared some worries about Alejandro Garnacho.

Indeed, Savage says that Garnacho doesn't suit the number 10 position under Ruben Amorim, claiming that the Argentine would be better off re-inventing himself as a wing-back.

Alejandro Garnacho should become a wing-back

Savage spoke about Garnacho and some of the struggles United had against Ipswich.

Savage says that Garnacho didn't suit the number 10 position, and he believes the South American should now drop much deeper.

Garnacho has been called 'superb' when playing in attack, but now, Savage thinks he should change position.

"I think it suits Rashford as the nine. I didn’t think it suited Garnacho in as a 10. I think he’s better as one of the wing-backs," Savage said.

"I thought Amad did brilliantly well, setting up the goal. I think it suited him.

"I think it suits Dalot. I think the player that doesn’t suit is Garnacho as a 10."

This suggestion embodies some of Manchester United's biggest problems right now.

Garnacho has been one of the brightest sparks at Old Trafford this season – he's the team's highest goalscorer in the Premier League.

However, despite leading the club's goalscoring charts, there's now this suggestion that he should become a defender and play as a wing-back.

Of course, Ruben Amorim's wing-backs do like to push forwards and get into the box, but it's not a position Garnacho has ever played before, and it's not necessarily the best way to use your top scorer.

United seem to have a lot of square pegs in round holes at the moment, and the sad reality is that if Ruben Amorim is going to stick with this 3-4-3 system with two number 10s, there may not be a natural position for Garnacho in this side going forwards.

Manchester United are interested in Geovany Quenda as a new wing-back option as well.

It will certainly be interesting to see how Amorim uses Garnacho for the remainder of this season.
