Brennan Johnson is one of Europe’s most in-form players right now having scored seven goals in his last seven matches for club and country.

Over the international break, the forward added to his goal-scoring tally for the season with another strike for Wales.

Since deleting his Instagram account, Johnson has been in unstoppable form and has gone on an incredible run of netting goals for Tottenham.

The North London club take on West Ham on October 19 in which the 23-year-old will be looking to extend his run of goals to eight goals.

Ahead of the London derby, Johnson’s former boss Chris Hughton has been speaking about his time working with the Spurs star.

Hughton reveals Brennan Johnson’s ‘very good’ finishing ability

Hughton, who coached Johnson at Nottingham Forest, has revealed that the youngster’s finishing ability was something that used to impress him in training.

The former Spurs coach believes we are now starting to see this quality translate to on the pitch given the forward’s rich vein of scoring.

Hughton speaking on TalkSport (19/10 at 8:12am) said: “Regarding his finishing ability, there are two aspects of finishing – one in the clinical moments of the game, which is about pressure, but the other is seeing what you see on the training pitch.

“Whenever we had finishing sessions with the forward players, his percentage of good finishes, corner-type finishes was very good. You had an indication there that he could finish well.

“It's just about those moments. And I think you are seeing now the qualities that he has got, always trying to make the box, but he is a player that can play through the middle as well, and I think there's more to come from him as well.”

Hughton backs Tottenham to challenge for European spots

Hughton has backed Ange Postecoglou’s side to contend for the European spots and challenge near the top of the table.

Currently, Spurs are sat down in 9th and have made their worst start to a Premier League campaign in 16 years having taken just 10 points from seven matches.

They suffered a shock defeat to Brighton in their last outing as they allowed a two-goal lead to slip away on the south coast.

“The general feeling I get, I have been to quite a few games, the feel at the club and the stadium is a different feel,” speaking to TalkSPORT (19/10 at 8:10am) Hughton added.

I think there's great anticipation as regards to the type of football and the enjoyment of the game, but, of course, it's about getting those results week in week out that are going to make sure that Tottenham are going to be a team that are going to qualify for Europe and be in the top areas of the league.”

Postecoglou’s next task is against West Ham where he is aiming to secure his first major London derby win against the Hammers.

The Australian head coach is yet to beat one of Arsenal, Chelsea or the East London club and now is the perfect time to end that.
