Brighton player "waiting to leave" – Finds himself in transfer limbo

Brighton & Hove Albion’s Valentín Barco is expected to end his loan stay at Sevilla in the winter market. The left-back struggled at the La Liga side and hasn’t featured for them for close to two months.
On Friday, Diario de Sevilla stated the Brighton man was left out of training prior to the clash against Girona.
Estadio Deportivo have a report on him, titled: ‘Twist in Valentín Barco’s situation’.
Within the report, it’s stated he was expected to leave at the start of January, but that hasn’t happened and his ‘future is still up in the air’.
Earlier this month, the 21-year-old asked not to be called up to face UD Almería in the Copa del Rey. This was backed up by Sevilla manager García Pimienta in the pre-match press conference for the clash against Girona.
“It is true that he asked not to be called up for Almería and he did so because I suppose at that moment, he was closer to leaving,” he said, relayed by Estadio.
“He had some discomfort and hasn’t trained all week. It’s not a serious injury, next week [this week] he should train with the team. He’s still waiting to leave, but he’s just another player.”
Last Tuesday, Sevilla sporting director Víctor Orta stated Brighton are in talks with several teams and will let them about their decision soon. The Seagulls haven’t yet agreed a deal with another club, and this could frustrate the Spanish club and the Argentine.
Estadio state Barco’s agents have received calls from Mexico and Brazil. However, his desire is to continue in Europe where FC Porto have been pushed forward as his next destination.
The report mentions an agreement for a loan deal with an option to buy set at €10m, but the Portuguese press have dismissed any sort of agreement with Porto.
Earlier today, Porto sacked manager Vítor Bruno and are yet to appoint his successor. This would delay the possibility of the Brighton man joining the Portuguese club in January.
In short, Barco is now in limbo and has two weeks left to sort out his future.
