Carlos Baleba kept his message brief but to the point while on international duty, as speculation over his Brighton future continues.

Baleba has become a vital player for Brighton as they push for an unexpected European spot under Fabian Hurzeler.

The midfielder's impressive passing range, combined with his ability to carry the ball forward and drive the team up the pitch, has made him a key presence in the heart of Brighton's midfield.

However his performances haven’t gone unnoticed as Football Insider revealed on 1 March that Liverpool are closely monitoring Baleba as a potential summer target.

Industry insider and former Man United chief scout Mick Brown also told Football Insider that Liverpool are prepared to make a significant offer to sign Baleba in the summer transfer window.

The Reds had targeted a similar profile in Martin Zubimendi last summer, but a deal never materialised. For now, though, Baleba's focus appears to be elsewhere as he continues his international duties.

Liverpool tracking Brighton stars Carlos Baleba and Joao Pedro for summer move

Baleba is currently on international duty with Cameroon and started in their recent goalless draw against Eswatini.

Despite the frustrating result, the midfielder shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, writing: "Always an honour”. His post was met with appreciation from fellow Cameroonian Andre Onana, who liked the message.

Liverpool's interest in Baleba was almost inevitable if they search for reinforcements in midfield. His performances for Brighton have already established him as one of the league's brightest young talents in that position.

However, if a move does materialise, he might not be the only Brighton player heading to Anfield as Liverpool have shown an interest in Joao Pedro.

Both Baleba and Pedro have played key roles in Brighton's impressive season and their push for Europe, with the Seagulls sitting seventh on 47 points, just two behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

Arne Slot prepares for major squad overhaul at Liverpool

With several key players linked with exits, a major squad rebuild is looking increasingly likely at Anfield.

A new striker is expected to be high on the agenda, particularly after Darwin Nunez came close to leaving in January and Diogo Jota being linked to Arsenal.

Meanwhile, midfield will likely remain an area Liverpool are keen to strengthen, having opted not to bring in reinforcements last summer.

Pedro and Baleba have proven they can perform at the highest level, and both could seamlessly fit into Slot's system as Liverpool look to continue their success under the Dutch coach.
