Celtic have enjoyed a period of dominance over Rangers but their Glasgow rivals could enjoy a revival after a proposed US-backed takeover.

Brendan Rodgers‘ side are on course to win a domestic treble this term and lead the Ibrox club by 13 points.

Celtic Park is already Scotland’s biggest football stadium and club chiefs have considered expansion plans in the past.

Aberdeen's former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has insisted there is demand for more hospitality areas at Parkhead, which will “keep the dial moving” and maintain dominance over Rangers.

Wyness has previously told Football Insider (26 January) that the focus should be on "improving the experience" at Celtic and developing a "statement stadium".

‘Celtic have got to keep moving’, says Wyness

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted Celtic “have got to keep moving” amid the imminent threat of a rejuvenated Rangers.

Celtic have leapt clear of the Gers financially and posted a huge £17.8million in profit for last season as their strong financial performance continues.

Wyness claimed hospitality should be an area the Hoops target in the near future.

He told Football Insider's Inside Track podcast: "It's a case of not standing still, and keeping your revenues going up.

"Adding more hospitality areas would certainly help that.

"It will depend on how many seats they would have to take out to put these facilities in, but overall I think there is a demand for it.

"European nights, for example, will be popular.

"I keep hearing Rod Stewart after every game on the radio, he will take one of those boxes straight away.

"There are enough wealthy Celtic fans and businessmen to afford this.

"In terms of the revenue impact, it will keep the dial moving – but it won't be a game-changer.

"Celtic have got to keep moving and keep that distance, because now we may see Rangers on their tail and chasing them."

Celtic set sights on striker deal

Football Insider has revealed (14 March) that Celtic are set to accelerate their plans to sign an 'A-list' striker in the summer transfer window.

Brendan Rodgers wants to find a replacement for Kyogo Furuhashi after his departure for Stade Rennais in January.

The Scottish giants have begun working on a deal to sign Brondby striker Mathias Kvistgaarden in the summer.
