CHELSEA have beaten Manchester United to the signing of an Argentina wonderkid – but they will have to wait for his arrival.

We revealed in May how the Blues were looking to snatch Boca Juniors ace Aaron Anselmino, 19, from under the noses of United.

The Red Devils had scouted him for months and was first linked with a move to Old Trafford and then AC Milan earlier this year.

The 6ft 2in defender made his senior debut for Boca just over a year ago only months after he signed his first professional contract.

That package included a release clause – which now appears to have been met by Chelsea.

And the Premier League side have now convinced him to join them after a £14m bid was accepted.

However, Boca Juniors are due to keep hold of the ace for at least another six months, according to reports.

That is because he looks set to remain with them on loan until the end of their domestic season.

Journalist Ben Jacobs posted on X: "Chelsea and Boca Juniors have agreed a fee of around £14m for Aaron Anselmino.

"Deal is now close to completion. Boca Juniors want to keep Anselmino on loan until January.

"Anselmino has agreed personal terms and is waiting for final approvals before undergoing his medical."

Then transfer guru Fabrizio Romano offered his own update on X.

He posted: "Chelsea expect Aaron Anselmino to travel for medical tests as soon as decision is made on loan for 2005 born defender – it will be be next week or the following one.

"He’s staying to Boca Juniors at least for 6 months, it’s the final detail then deal will be signed."

Anselmino is yet to represent his country at any level.

But his displays continue to garner attention and it is widely expected that the national team could soon take a look at him in one of their development squads.
