Chelsea fans have expressed their frustration after Omari Kellyman shared an update on his fitness on social media.

The young talent joined Chelsea last summer in a £19 million move from Aston Villa, but his season has been plagued by injuries, with only two appearances for the Under-21s before multiple setbacks kept him sidelined.

Kellyman had made a return to action earlier this month, featuring for the U21s after being out for 192 days, after he suffered another setback in December.

However, it appears that injuries have once again taken their toll, as the youngster's recent post on social media after a devastating update.

Omari Kellyman ruled out for the rest of the season after another injury setback

The 19-year-old was left distraught after confirming in his latest Instagram post that he has suffered another injury setback. Kellyman revealed that he will miss the rest of the season due to a another injury to his hamstring, following what has already been a tough campaign.

Since his £19 million move from Aston Villa last summer, the youngster has yet to feature under Enzo Maresca. The transfer raised eyebrows at the time, and Chelsea fans have grown increasingly frustrated by Kellyman and his lack of impact, with injuries preventing him from making any significant appearances for the first team.

With the confirmation that Kellyman will not return until next season, fans’ concerns have only deepened, as he has yet to make a single appearance for Chelsea's senior squad this term.

Chelsea may cut losses on Omari Kellyman following injury woes

In December, Football Insider revealed that Chelsea were open to loaning Kellyman out in January, with several EFL clubs showing interest.

Kellyman was linked to a potential loan move to Birmingham City, but that deal ultimately fell through, leaving him to continue his recovery at Chelsea.

The high transfer fee has only added to the growing frustration among fans, as he has yet to justify the £19 million investment. The teenager, under contract until 2030, has already missed 50 games this season, casting doubt on his ability to make an impact in the near future.

Under Maresca, Chelsea have provided opportunities to other young talents such as Shim Mheuka, Tyrique George, and Genesis Antwi, making it seem like a first-team chance for Kellyman could have been on the cards.

However, his persistent injury problems have disrupted any chance of that, and fans are increasingly voicing their concerns. One supporter said, “Start selling this guy” while another expressed frustration over the fee: “£20m we paid. What a joke of a club.”
