Chelsea fans were left furious with Christopher Nkunku’s performance as the team suffered a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal.

Chelsea had their four-game winning streak ended in a 1-0 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on 16 March.

Mikel Merino scoring the only goal of the match. His header from a corner looped over goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, giving the Gunners a crucial win.

Things could’ve gone bad to worse for Enzo Maresca, as former PGMOL chief Keith Hackett exclusively told Football Insider that Wesley Fofana could have been sent off after a stamp on Declan Rice.

Jadon Sancho also came under heavy scrutiny from Chelsea supporters after his lacklustre display, with his future at the club now uncertain. Nkunku, too, faced criticism after another disappointing outing, providing little in terms of attacking contribution with supporters directing their frustration at the forward.

Christopher Nkunku's Chelsea future in doubt amid Man United interest

The Frenchman started on the left wing for the Blues as Pedro Neto filled in as a temporary striker due to Nicolas Jackson’s injury.

However, it was another disappointing performance, as he failed to register any shots, dribbles, or win any aerial duels during the match.

Earlier in the season, Football Insider revealed that Manchester United had shown interest in signing Nkunku during the January transfer window, but no deal materialised.

At one point, there were discussions about a potential swap deal involving Nkunku and Man United’s Alejandro Garnacho, but with Chelsea already losing Joao Felix on loan and Marcus Rashford leaving for Aston Villa, the move did not advance.

He remained at Chelsea, and with Jackson and Marc Guiu both sidelined, he now finds himself with a more prominent role in the squad.

However, it has been a frustrating season for Nkunku, with injuries and limited playing time hindering his progress. He has started just eight Premier League matches under Enzo Maresca, most of which have come since Jackson’s injury.

Chelsea fans want Nkunku's 'contract terminated' amid attacking woes without Jackson

Chelsea fans have grown increasingly frustrated with Nkunku and his lack of impact this season, but particularly after his underwhelming performance against Arsenal.

Although he has scored 14 goals this season, the majority of them have come in the Conference League, while he has only managed to find the back of the net three times in the Premier League.

With Jackson sidelined, many supporters saw this as an opportunity for Nkunku to step up, but he has failed to deliver.

The frustration is evident, with one fan urging Chelsea to “terminate Christopher Nkunku's contract” calling him “a disgrace to the shirt.” Another supporter suggested he “must be sold to fund a top striker” highlighting the growing impatience with the French forward.
