Chelsea youngster Aaron Anselmino has taken to social media to thank his former club, Boca Juniors, after being recalled from loan.

The 19-year-old signed for Chelsea in the summer of 2024 for a fee of £15million and was subsequently loaned back to his boyhood club for the remainder of the season.

Anselmino was recalled on January 3rd and has been training with the first time since after both Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile picked up serious muscle injuries.

Enzo Maresca’s side also decided to recall Trevoh Chalobah from Crystal Palace with Fofana unlikely to feature for the rest of the season.

The centre-back hasn’t played first-team football since early November, coming off at half-time as Boca Juniors drew 1-1 with Sarmiento.

Anselmino had established himself as a key player for Boca Juniors before joining Chelsea, starting 18 of his 25 games across all competitions, popping up with two goals, and providing three assists in his 1649 minutes of action.

The Argentinian took to Instagram to bid farewell to his former club, saying: “The day came to say goodbye to the club that from the very beginning opened the doors for me and gave me that unconditional love that I will always remember.

“I was able to fulfill my dream and that of my family, debut in the first place with the Boca shirt, all I have left are words of gratitude for every person of the club, fans, colleagues, staff and directors. They made me the happiest person in the world, I will always carry them in my heart.”

Chelsea have fallen out of the Champions League qualification spots after failing to win a Premier League game in their last five attempts.

Maresca's side will host relegation-threatened Wolves in their next league fixture on Monday (January 20) with their title challenge in tatters.
