Andreas Pereira's good relationship with Palmeiras president Leila Pereira is seen as key to the Brazilian side's hopes of signing him in January.
That's according to UOL, who say Leila has become the club's 'asset' as they try to get the midfielder out of Fulham.
The newspaper reports that Palmeiras are 'betting on' the 28-year-old's good relationship with the club's president to advance the negotiations for him.
She's already proven to be an asset in this regard after the pair 'became closer' during friendlies for the Brazilian national team in March this year, when they took on Spain and England.
Pereira was the head of the delegation and had an 'unprecedented closeness' to the players. That led to conversations with some of them and a 'closeness' was formed. This was the case with eh Fulham midfielder, who was not afraid to talk to her.
Palmeiras have already carried out a first survey for the midfielder, offering around €20m to Fulham to sign him. According to 'people close' to the midfielder, he has given the proposal 'special attention' because Palmeiras' president. In fact, a member of the midfielder's team is quoted as saying "she's been incredible".
The offer they have made is considered good for the Fulham man in financial terms and when it comes to projection and the media, but Marco Silva's side are considered a problem.
They have Pereira tied down to a deal until July 2026 and have an option to extend it. They already turned down a €25m offer from Marseille in the summer. Reports elsewhere have the offer at €20m.
Both Fulham and Pereira's entourage believe that higher and 'more advantageous' proposals for the club should appear in the coming months. If Fulham do decide to negotiate, they would need a more substantial proposal from the Brazilian team.
While Pereira's relationship with the Palmeiras president will play a part, it will be the money offered that will decide where the midfielder's future lies.
