Jude Bellingham injured himself during the Golden Boy ceremony, having cut his finger on the trophy.

The Real Madrid star picked up the prize for the best young player in world football during a glittering ceremony in Turin last December.

He joked to his dad that the injury ‘could only happen to me’

While the night appeared like a flawless celebration for the Birmingham-born sensation, new footage has showed that not everything went exactly to plan.

Bellingham shared episode 2 of his ‘Out Of The Floodlights’ documentary on his brand new YouTube channel which showed behind the scenes footage of his trip to Italy.

Attending the ceremony with his mum and dad, Denise and Mark, Bellingham picked up the Golden Boy and Kopa trophy before delivering his acceptance speech.

He then made his way backstage to meet his dad where he showed that the life of Jude isn’t all glamour.

"I cut my finger on the trophy, look,” he said to Mark. “It can only happen to me!”

Despite the small mishap, the 21-year-old spoke of how much the Golden Boy award meant to him.

Speaking on his YouTube channel in December last year, Bellingham said: “The last two years I've come second twice and you can say that you don't really care but you do because you want to be the best you can be.

"I'm not here to say I should have won but you do take it a little bit personally so you almost want to tick it off.”

Bellingham added: “I can't really get too high with the highs.

"Until the end of the season when I've hopefully won some trophies I can't, you know, enjoy it too much.

"Of course I'm proud of what I've done so far but I've just got to take the trophy back home and then it's back to business tomorrow."

Of course Bellingham did exactly what he set out to do by helping Real Madrid to the LaLiga title – the first league crown of his career.

He also won the Champions League and UEFA Super Cup, capping off a stunning debut season with Real Madrid where he scored 23 goals and provided 13 assists.

This term he’ll have his sights set on the Ballon d’Or prize having been included in the 30-man shortlist for the men’s award.

It’s likely that Bellingham will face stiff competition from Manchester City star Rodri and Real Madrid teammate, Vinicius Jr for the prize.
