Cristiano Ronaldo takes aim at Man United with new Ruben Amorim claim
Yesterday at 11:59 AM
Ruben Amorim is not the problem at Man United amid their current struggles, Cristiano Ronaldo has said.
It has been a tough time for the 39-year-old since when he replaced Erik ten Hag to take charge at Old Trafford back in November.
A 2-0 defeat to struggling Wolves on Boxing Day meant the Red Devils have now lost five of their last seven games in all competitions.
That has seen Man United slip to 14th in the Premier League table, leaving many followers of the club seemingly stunned by their situation.
Ronaldo though does not believe that the responsibility for those struggles rests with Amorim, suggesting they are instead the fault of others.
Speaking about his former club, the Portuguese international was quoted as saying: "I love Manchester United, I want the best for them. The problem is NOT the coach, it's different". (via Fabrizio Romano).
Cristiano Ronaldo makes fair assessment of Ruben Amorim situation at Man United
Football Insider Opinion
There are historic connections between Ronaldo and Amorim from their time in Portugal so it makes sense that one would back the other in circumstances such as this.
Given how things have been going at Man United for some time now though, in this case it is hard to argue with his assessment here.
The squad of players that has been assembled at Old Trafford has fallen below par for a number of managers in recent years.
It is therefore unfair to expect Amorim to turn things around with that group, especially so soon after his appointment at the club.
Behind the scenes too things do not all seem well under INEOS, which is not helping Man United get on a stable footing when it comes to their off-field situation either.
All of that therefore means there are many others who are not doing what they should be for the club right now, and so it would be incredibly harsh to blame Amorim for what is going on at the minute.
In other news, Rasmus Hojlund was left “fuming” with one Man United teammate in his side’s defeat to Wolves.
