West Ham United forward Crysencio Summerville has admitted he's become more professional since joining the Hammers in the summer.

Voetbal Primeur cover comments from the forward today made in an interview with Viaplay, in which he admits he's now longer relying on his God given talent.

Summerville joined West Ham in a €29.3m deal in the summer transfer window after a superb campaign with Leeds United last year in which he was the undisputed star of the Championship.

It's his second taste of Premier League football after previously breaking through while Leeds were still in the top flight.

He was very much an emerging talent at that point, making six appearances in the 2021/22 campaign before then managing 28 in the 2022/23 season, scoring four goals and registering two assists.

Now 23-years-old he is still a youngster but no longer the youngster learning the trade like he once was but an established first-team player on the back of a career best season in the Championship.

It seems he's more than aware of that too, admitting the move to West Ham has forced him to become more professional and not just rely on talent.

“In the past it was more: there is talent, and I have been given a gift from God," he said.

"But now it is more that hard work is also important, and what you do to get there. Not only on the field, but also what you do in terms of nutrition, rest and sleep, to be optimal in the matches."
