'Newcastle set for mega-money Alexander Isak bids from Premier League clubs'

Newcastle striker Alexander Isak will be subject to massive transfer offers from clubs within the Premier League, according to Jay Bothroyd.
The Sweden international continued his excellent form for the Magpies on Saturday (21 December) with a hat-trick in a 4-0 thrashing of Ipswich Town.
That will only continue to fuel interest in the 25-year-old with it already understood that Arsenal are keen to sign him.
Speaking on Sky Sports on 22 December (1:36pm) though, Darren Ambrose and Bothroyd were left disagreeing about how much clubs will pay for the Newcastle talisman. When asked if he thinks Isak will remain at St James’ Park long-term, former Magpies midfielder Ambrose said: “I think so, 2028 his contract runs out.”
Bothroyd disagreed, responding by telling him to “be honest”, before Ambrose added “someone has to come in and pay £100m-plus to get Isak.”
Bothroyd was adamant, saying “and I think teams will be doing that” but Ambrose insisted “no-one in the Premier League are going to do that.”
In response, the former Arsenal striker pointed out a number of other players who had been bought for such fees, noting: “If they’re gonna pay £100m for the likes of Declan Rice, Enzo Fernandez, Jack Grealish why wouldn’t they do that when it comes to a goalscorer that everyone needs right now?”
Ambrose though reiterated his stance by saying: “I just don’t think anyone in the Premier League will do that yet.”
Alexander Isak gives Newcastle a tough transfer decision to make
Football Insider Opinion
It is likely that if money was no object, most of the very top teams in the world would be pursuing a deal for Isak.
The 25-year-old has stood out pretty much ever since he joined Newcastle, showing his ability to consistently score goals at the very top level.
But if it is to cost £100million as Ambrose suggests even most of those best clubs would likely find it hard to raise the funds needed to get a deal done.
It could though be noted that there is a suggestion the Magpies may have to sell in January in order to avoid punishment for breaching rules around PSR.
That might put pressure on Newcastle to sell at a lower price if offers are to come in that could still help to ease the financial scrutiny they are under.
With that in mind, clubs may want to try and take advantage of that by making offers for Isak, hoping to force them into selling a player who would be a major asset to anyone as a source of goals.
In other news, a fresh claim has been made over a potential move to Newcastle for Richarlison.
