'Crystal Palace set to reject Man City move for Adam Wharton'

Man City have been heavily linked with a move to sign Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old is viewed as a potential long-term successor to Rodri, while Pep Guardiola is keen to reinforce his midfield options this summer.
As a result, City have been keeping a close eye on his situation, while he has also been linked with a potential move to Tottenham and Real Madrid.
However, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson has told Football Insider that Palace will reject any advances for the England international this summer.
Wharton’s contract with the Eagles is set to run until 2029 after he was signed from Blackburn in January 2024 and he is seen as a long-term part of Oliver Glasner’s plans.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 14 March that Palace are under no pressure to sell Wharton despite the rising interest in his signature.
Crystal Palace plan to keep Adam Wharton after Man City scouting missions
Former Tottenham scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 12 March that both Spurs and Man City have been watching Wharton as scouts have been at Selhurst Park.
The midfielder has missed large spells through injury, but has enjoyed a strong return to regular football under Glasner and remains a crucial part of the squad.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Robinson explained that Palace have no reason to consider offers for him this summer and will instead look to the future with him as a key part of their side.
“Adam Wharton has only played 17 times this year,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s a quality player, but he’s suffered injuries and not played as much as he wanted to.
“He’s still in the early stages of his Crystal Palace career and there’s more to come from him – I don’t see him being a player they sacrifice.
“I think Palace are looking to the future with him.
“He’s only just gone to the club in a surprise move from Blackburn, it was very good recruitment.
“I think he’s developed since he’s been there and there’s more to come.
“His contract is until 2029, so Palace will look at that and feel their investment is protected.
“We’ve seen he’s on the fringes of the England squad and is only going to get better, so Palace have got no reason whatsoever to sell him this season.”
Oliver Glasner plans to keep key players at Selhurst Park
Wharton is not the only Palace star to have been heavily linked with a move away from Selhurst Park this summer amid intense speculation at Selhurst Park.
Marc Guehi, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Eberechi Eze have also attracted interest from top sides, while Glasner is also subject to interest from RB Leipzig.
Football Insider revealed on 13 March that Palace plan to keep Mateta, Eze and Wharton, but are prepared to accept offers for Guehi.
Meanwhile, Palace have opened contract talks with Glasner as the boss has just one year remaining on his current deal with the South London club.
