Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez has shown his support for teammate Federico Chiesa after he scored his first goal for the club in their 4-0 FA Cup win over Accrington Stanley on Friday (January 11).

Nunez, 25, played the full 90 minutes, providing the assist for Diogo Jota’s opener as Arne Slot’s side progressed to the fourth round.

Trent Alexander-Arnold then doubled the home side’s lead just before half-time with a lovely long-range effort, leaving the opposition ‘keeper with no chance.

Jayden Danns made it 3-0 before Chiesa, 27, scored his first goal for the club since joining in the summer to round off the scoring in the 90th minute.

The winger has already missed 15 games since joining the club through various injuries and, in a surprise twist, was omitted from the starting XI with 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha given the nod.

Slot’s side have five games remaining in January alone, including crucial Champions League clashes with Lille and PSV.

Liverpool will host Nottingham Forest on Tuesday (January 14) as they seek to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table.
